THE PROBLEM SOVLING PROCESS
Problem - Solving Process
The Problem-Solving Process
1. Define the problem
Deeply understanding a problem through research, leading to better solutions.
2. Generate alternative solutions
Find alternatives to the problem to be able to find a solution. This can be done through brainstorming, seeking short term and long term alternatives as well as involving all the individuals involved in the problem.
3. Evaluate and select an alternative to the problem
Consider the extent to which a particular alternative will solve the problem without causing other unanticipated problems. All the individuals involved will accept the alternative. Implementation of the alternative is likely.
4. Implement and follow up on the solution
Involving others in the implementation is an effective way to gain buy-in and support and minimize resistance to subsequent changes. Built feedback channels should be built into the implementation.
